Meghan Markle’s Brother Just Made A Serious Accusation

From the very beginning of her relationship with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has faced quite a bit of criticism. In fact, just months after they started dating — in an unprecedented move — Prince Harry released a lengthy statement, publicly defending his then girlfriend from the media firestorm.

Despite Harry’s efforts early on, the storm has raged on. Since tying the knot in May 2018, Markle and Harry have sued the British media multiple times for unwarranted “bullying.” That being said, the attacks haven’t just been coming from the media — they’ve been coming from Markle’s family, as well. It’s part of the reason that — except for her mother, Doria Ragland — Markle’s family wasn’t invited to the royal wedding.

For the past few years, various members of Markle’s family have been dragging her name through the mud.

“You were planning to write a diary, a tell-all book, A Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister.”

And now her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., has resurfaced, seemingly hoping to score another 15 minutes of fame.

In an interview with Australian magazine New Idea published on March 2nd, 2020, Thomas opened up about why he feels his sister is to blame for his homelessness and lack of employment. The 53-year-old told the magazine,

“Being associated with Meghan has nearly destroyed me. I am homeless and could have been under a bridge with a cardboard sign begging for money but thankfully my mum has taken me in.”

According to the outlet, he’s currently living with his mother in a small apartment in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Thomas, who was arrested for allegedly holding a gun to his girlfriend’s head “following a drunken argument” in 2017, believes that his half-sister should have been there for him in his time of need. He told New Idea,

“Meghan could have helped me or got someone else at the palace to do so.”

Since Meghan hasn’t offered to help and her half-brother thinks that his supposed royal ties are doing him more harm than good, Thomas told the magazine that he is considering changing his last name to, quote, “escape its curse.”

Honestly, Meghan would probably be more than happy to hear about that name change. Especially considering the fact that this isn’t the first time Thomas has bashed his half-sister.

In the months leading up to Meghan and Harry’s wedding, it seemed like every member of Markle’s family came out of the woodwork to offer up their two cents, including Thomas Markle Jr.

In a note obtained by InTouch Weekly in May 2018, Thomas told Harry that it wasn’t “too late” to reconsider walking down the aisle with his half-sister, writing,

“Meghan Markle is obviously not the right woman for you. As more time passes to your royal wedding, it becomes very clear that this is the biggest mistake in royal wedding history. I’m confused why you don’t see the real Meghan that the whole world sees. […] It’s very apparent that her tiny bit of Hollywood fame has gone to her head, changing her into a jaded, shallow, conceited woman that will make a joke of you and the Royal family heritage.”

Needless to say, Harry didn’t dignify the letter with a response. After sitting by the mailbox for about a week with no response in sight, Thomas decided to do a complete 180, telling The Mirror he felt, quote, “like an ass” for bashing Meghan. He even went so far as to praise his half-sister, saying,

“This is every woman’s dream come true – to marry a prince. I couldn’t be more happy for or proud of my sister. She’s incredible.”

Given his past behavior, we’re not shocked that Meghan didn’t feel particularly inclined to lend a helping hand to her brother. And who’s to say that he even reached out to her in the first place? That being said, we wouldn’t be surprised if she gave the recent accusation levelled against her about as much thought as Harry gave the pre-wedding letter.
